It wasn't a typical police chase.

Officers with the Springfield, Missouri Police Department responded to a report of a lemur in the road.

When police officers arrived, a short foot pursuit ensued when the lemur fled from officers Franchi and Davis in a parking lot.

The lemur was eventually caught and wrapped up in a towel.

Police stated the lemur belonged to a family that had reported the wild animal missing.

Animal control officers took the lemur into custody due to a city ordinance, which bans residents from having wild animals as pets.

The family surrendered their pet, according to police.

The lemur has been connected to a local wildlife rescue agency where they will continue to be well cared for and loved!
