Mexican artist Peso Pluma faces death threats from cartel ahead of Tijuana concert

Mexican artist Peso Pluma is being threatened by the Mexican cartel, TMZ reports.

Peso Pluma is on his tour and is planning to go to Tijuana in October, but TMZ says the Mexican cartel is leaving death threats for the singer all over the city.

Multiple banners were found saying, “This goes to Peso Pluma, refrain from presenting yourself on October 14, because it will be your last show due to your disrespect and loose tongue.” The threatening banners were signed by the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, a group based in Jalisco, Mexico.

The singer has not commented on the threat, but the Tijuana concert remains scheduled. Some of his upcoming U.S. concerts have been postponed.

The death threats came before he took the stage Tuesday night at the MTV VMAs. He made history as the first Mexican star to perform at the VMAs.

Pluma has San Antonio roots. He went to Clemens High School in Schertz (just north of San Antonio) his freshman year.
