CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - As Texans brace themselves for another potential storm, officials announced Friday that Padre Island National Seashore will be closed.
According to a press release, South Beach will be closed to vehicle access starting Saturday at 8 a.m. due to coastal flooding caused by Tropical Storm Depression 22, which is expected to reach storm or hurricane strength.
Around 1 p.m., vehicle access will close at North Beach. As of noon, officials said water has already reached the dune line in several places.
At this time, minor coastal flooding has already started during high tide and is only expected to increase throughout the weekend. The closure will be lifted as soon as conditions below and Texas Rangers will continue to notify people and clearing the beach Saturday morning.
